The commission approved a routine, annual request to close downtown streets for the 63rd Franklin Car and Craft Show, scheduled Saturday, Sept. 19, with the cruise-in on Friday night. Amy Ellis presented the permit details and asked the commission to approve the same street-closure pattern the city has used for many years.
Ellis summarized timing and safety plans: “The 63rd annual Franklin Car and Craft Show will be Saturday, September 19. ... we're closing on Friday afternoon about 4, and then the streets will open back up on Saturday. The event is over at 3. We we ask to keep it closed until 4.” The motion, moved by Commissioner Stewart and seconded by Commissioner Bush, carried on a voice vote recorded in the meeting.
