Franklin reintroduces and swears in Officer Debbie Steele

Chief Thompson reintroduced Steele, telling the commission she began her career in Franklin and has approximately 18 years in law enforcement with experience in patrol, supervision and as a firearms and defensive-tactics instructor. “Debbie actually began her career here, in Franklin at the Franklin Police Department where she served 10 years,” Chief Thompson said, adding that Steele has received multiple awards during her career. On the record, Chief Thompson asked City Attorney Amanda East to administer the oath of office.
The mayor and commissioners welcomed Steele and her family on the dais. No formal discipline, appointment details or further personnel actions were discussed publicly; the oath itself was the public action recorded.
