The Town of Jay board on Oct. 10 approved a package of equipment purchases and prepayments, including authorization to spend $40,000 on a paver and roller, a $2,915 purchase of a sander chain, a $4,516.20 snow blower and a $6,047.04 zero-turn mower. The paver and roller authorization passed by roll call (Councilman Knut Sauer, Councilor Olivia Dwyer, Supervisor Matt Stanley and Councilman Tom McDonald voted yes; Councilman Steve Forbes was absent).
"Motion to authorize $40,000.00 be spent on a paver and roller (Machinery EQ) from the Town of Peru made by Councilman Sauer, second by Councilman McDonald," the record shows. The board also approved awarding the Jay Green lighting installation to Shumaker Construction for $47,250 and prepaying invoices tied to lighting and wastewater engineering work.
One prepayment — $8,500 to Mountain Valley for Community Center LED lighting (grant funds) — passed with Councilman McDonald recorded as abstaining; other prepayments cited grant or capital funding and passed by roll call or unanimous consent. The board approved prepayments to North Country Mechanical Insulators ($11,040, NYSERDA grant funds) and a bundle of MJ Engineering invoices totaling $45,825 (capital account; 40% to be recovered from the Town of Black Brook for wastewater upgrade work).
