Dr. Woodcock said the town operates the program at Tecumseh and that parents had asked whether it could remain open on days when the district cancels activities; she reported the town and program director had raised concerns about staffing, parking-lot and sidewalk maintenance, and high‑school students who normally serve as program staff on those days. Trustees questioned whether the town could staff the program without student workers and whether keeping a single site open was feasible when district-wide cancellations were required for safety.
Board members suggested staff follow up with the town to clarify staffing and liability questions and to explore options — for example, making case-by-case determinations rather than imposing a blanket rule. Dr. Woodcock said she would include the topic in her weekly update and pursue further information for the board.
