During the meeting staff ran through recent and active development projects across Bastrop.
Highlights included Texas Roadhouse (permit activity), a new Bastrop Liquor Store certificate of occupancy at 103 W. State Highway 71, Sunny Hill RV park receiving sewer and water, continued work with the Bastrop Opera House on phased remodeling, and a range of tenant finishes in Burleson Crossing East (including an 8,000‑square‑foot tilt‑wall building with tenants like Chipotle and Firehouse Subs and future Sprouts and PetSmart locations mentioned). Staff encouraged commissioners to drive around the sites for visual updates but said staff will try to share more photos in future packets.
Commissioners also asked about a possible hospital and other medical facilities; staff said those efforts are a work in progress and depend on population and market drivers. The city continues working with BISD on school projects and has multiple retail and service projects in permitting and build-out stages.
