Superintendent Dr. Ruka gave the board an operational update on high‑school food service, describing a series of short‑term and staffing changes intended to speed service.
Ruka said the district opened a second hotline Oct. 19 to field food‑service issues and temporarily used disposable trays to keep service moving. "If we have starving children, we need to feed them," he told the board, emphasizing operational urgency. He said the snack‑shack opened Nov. 10 and two additional food‑service workers were scheduled to start the next day, which he said freed the director to manage district needs more effectively.
Student board member Saba later echoed the improvement in student experience, saying lines are shorter and students can use more of their lunch period. The board accepted the update and recorded personnel hires on the consent agenda earlier in the meeting.
