Council approves limited OLCC liquor license for Alternatives Cinemas/Granada under new ownership

Staff (speaker 18) explained that many modern cinemas offer beer and wine under OLCC permits and that the new ownership sought to expand concessions to increase revenue and patronage. Councilors raised concerns about seating proximity and underage patrons; staff and the applicant said OLCC rules govern service, ID checks and server training and suggested the theater would be cooperative about designated seating or other mitigations if concerns arise.
A motion to approve the OLCC application for limited on-premises sales passed on voice vote, and the mayor was authorized to sign the city’s approval as part of the local permitting process.
