The committee approved a series of appropriations and budget amendments covering several departments, including a highway appropriation of $4,432,000 from restricted highway funds and grant-related adjustments for EMA and homeland-security programs.
Robin told commissioners the highway appropriation sits against a restricted highway fund balance and presented the EMA grants that increase both revenue and expenditures. Staff described a FLAP grant award with an associated local match moved from tourism development funds; Robin said the match amount was $228,221 and that additional FLAP grant monies totaled about $908,000. Robin also reported TVA donations of $250,000 for Claxton Park and $50,000 for Lost Bottom Park that will go into related park expenditure codes.
Commissioners approved grouped items 6 through 17 by voice vote as presented. Staff characterized the FLAP award as a significant win that would make several park and transportation improvements possible.
