Director: new voting equipment to arrive late Sept.; special election and early voting dates set

Marie detailed two imminent special elections: a school-board special due to a resignation, with early voting beginning Sept. 3 and certification scheduled for Sept. 19, and a Fripp Island Public Service District contest to be run on the Nov. 5 ballot as part of the general election. She reviewed early-voting windows for the general election (Oct. 21–Nov. 1, 08:30–18:00 Monday–Saturday), the hand-count audit schedule (the Wednesday after the election at 10:00 a.m.), and canvass/certification timing.
Marie encouraged board members to attend at least one poll-worker briefing so they can answer poll-worker questions in the field and avoid giving incorrect guidance. She also noted community outreach events the office will attend between now and the election and the importance of timely address changes to voter registration before the books close.
