Kara Clark asked the board not to vote on policy KL at the summer meeting, saying "this is gonna be an erosion of trust with the community if it goes through tonight before everybody's back in school and paying attention to what's happening in our school district." She flagged changes at federal agencies (reduced Office for Civil Rights staffing) and said local complaint access matters more now. Contreras later returned to public comment and urged the board to recognize that earlier school‑closure discussions caused an enrollment decline and to include expenditure‑by‑function reports to avoid cost‑shifting when trimming budgets.
