Communications staff presented the district’s Brand Refresh initiative to the board at the Aug. 11 work session. Lisa Brandecker, Manager of Administrative Services and Communications, joined by Communications Specialist Danette Childs and Ashley Winter of CEL, outlined proposed changes to the district’s logo, mascot and color palette and explained the goals of the work.
Presenters said the refresh aims to strengthen the district’s visual identity and to align it with the district’s new mission, vision and strategic plan. As the presentation put it, "The purpose of this work is to strengthen South St. Paul Public Schools’ visual identity and align it more closely with the district’s new mission, vision, and strategic plan." The team said they had incorporated feedback from staff, families, coaches and community members, with repeated themes around Packer pride and keeping the word "South" prominent.
Board members asked clarifying questions about accessibility, copyright and the phased rollout. No formal vote was taken at the work session; the board will receive a full proposal at its Aug. 25 regular meeting. If approved, presenters said the refreshed brand could begin a phased rollout in time for Opening Days on Aug. 26.
