The board approved a construction contract to replace the administration building roof after staff recommended rejecting the two lowest bids and entering into a contract with the lowest responsive bidder. Engineering manager Will Stelter (Speaker 11) told directors the district received six bids and recommended rejecting the two lowest to proceed with the responsive low bidder. "The recommendation in front of you is to reject the 2 lowest bidders... as well as enter into the construction contract with the lowest responsive bidder, and authorize the general manager to approve change orders up to 10% of the construction contract," Stelter said.
Directors asked no substantive questions and approved the staff recommendation on a voice vote. Staff noted the authorization for change orders is limited to 10% of the contract and that the district will manage change order activity through its usual project controls. The contract award will move forward and staff will return with any required contract documents and subsequent change-order notifications as needed.
