Superintendent Doctor Ludwig told the board that if school opened today the district’s enrollment would be 8,403, reporting “3,266 in primary, 1,980 in middle, 3,052 in high school, 105 at 3 Rivers Charter. So that brings us to 8,403.”
Ludwig framed the fall around a theme he repeated throughout his presentation: “Every student, every class, every day matters.” He said staff used a leadership retreat and listening sessions to draft a multi‑year district action plan that will prioritize coherence across departments, integrated systems and improved communication. Ludwig said the district expanded summer staffing so primary school offices will be open Wednesdays to make enrollment and registration easier for families.
The superintendent acknowledged the district is below last fall’s count of roughly 8,600 and said staff will continue to monitor registrations and report updated projections to the board. He also described work with Urban Collaborative (a draft report in progress) and staff efforts to pair feedback with data to guide priorities for attendance, behavioral supports and multi‑tiered systems. Ludwig asked trustees to expect a board work session to unpack the action plan and next steps for implementation.
