Board explores resident therapy dog policy and joint consolidation talks with Carlton

During the Feb. 5 work session the board discussed several committee reports. K‑9 trainer Jenny Orn Sandstrom introduced the concept of a resident therapy dog in the school and the board reached consensus to pursue possible model policies to explore the concept further.
Chair Mary Carlson briefed the board on correspondence from the Carlton School Board requesting a joint meeting to discuss consolidation. The board reviewed possible dates and favored a March 3, 2025 joint session with the Carlton board (or February 20 as backup) and requested that the meeting be videoed and live streamed to increase transparency; a draft letter from Chair Carlson to Carlton was included in board materials expressing willingness to convene all twelve members and a positive brainstorming format.
