The board voted to allow a local Rotary Club to install a small "peace pole" near the tennis courts at the memorial trees and to hold a Rotary meet-and-greet on Sept. 10. The presenter (Committee member) outlined the project as a low-profile goodwill installation with engraved inscriptions in multiple languages and suggested siting it where memorial trees already stand.
During discussion, trustees confirmed the pole would be engraved rather than written on by children and that Rotary volunteers would handle installation. After the Chair solicited a motion, the board adopted the proposal by voice vote; no individual roll-call was recorded in the transcript. "So I would recommend the board approve the Rotary Club installing a piece pole at the tennis courts near the memorial trees," the presenter said before the motion was seconded and approved.
