Superintendent Darin Drill opened the committee’s budget message by stressing enrollment’s role in district finances and telling the committee that while 'many Districts are facing employee reduction measures' Cascade is working to avoid layoffs. Drill told the committee he is 'hopeful to prevent that scenario here at Cascade.'
Finance Director William Wang presented the proposed 2026–27 budget and highlighted that, thanks to enrollment growth and conservative management of one-time funds, the district can present a plan that preserves positions. Wang said he "is personally very proud that we are able to present the proposed budget without losing any positions." The presentation noted statewide PERS pressures are significant but that the district’s projected exposure is lower than some peers.
