The Cascade SD 5 Budget Committee approved the district’s 2026–27 proposed budget in the aggregate amount of $105,185,769.79 and set the permanent property tax rate at $4.6405 per $1,000 of assessed value. The motion to approve, moved by Budget Committee Chair Karen Ramseyer and seconded by Board Vice Chair Ruth Stevens, carried with all members present voting yes.
Chair Ramseyer opened the required public hearing at 6:24 p.m. and closed it at 6:26 p.m., stating that no members of the public were in attendance. The committee’s approval followed presentations from Superintendent Darin Drill and Director of Finance William Wang; the minutes note the budget was later approved at the full board meeting on June 8, 2026. The motion carried unanimously; committee membership recorded as voting yes included Ruth Stevens, Aaron Lee, Spencer Rockwell, Patie Taylor, Karen Ramseyer, Wendy Coates, Stephanie Moll and Don Taylor.
The approved aggregate total and the tax-rate figure were recorded in the resolution adopting the proposed budget and setting the rate.
