Jericho board honors teachers, approves tenure appointments

"Teresa Cantwell has been named Long Island History Day Teacher of the Year," one presenter said, praising her leadership of the districtresearch program.
The board then read a resolution citing Education Law (§3012) and recommended appointments to tenure for the listed individuals. Board members moved and seconded the resolution, called the question, and indicated approval. Administrators described the tenure process as rigorous and emphasized the role tenured teachers play in sustaining Jerichoprograms from FBLA to science research. The board invited the audience to recognize recipients at a reception following the vote. "Earning tenure in Jericho is a challenge. We are a district that demands excellence," an administrator said during the presentations.
