Supporters report nursing-home occupancy stable but workforce and Medicaid funding remain concerns

Martha Webb (S5) told the board she has been helping promote support for the local nursing home and provided current occupancy and staffing context. "We're running between 68 and 72 beds," Webb said, adding hiring is ongoing but that shortages of LPNs, clinical nurses and therapy staff remain.
Webb described the vital access program as a short-term bridge for facilities facing cash-flow issues and said the underlying Medicaid rate paid by the state limits long-term financial stability. She noted the facility recently completed a multi-day state survey with positive exit comments from the chief surveyor and said people can look up the facility's Medicare star rating on the CMS website under the facility name "Elderwood at North Creek."
