County hauling could replace town contract; board told of potential savings

Chair (S3) said he attended a county DPW meeting and reported that Scott Royal, the county solid-waste lead, has data indicating the county may take over hauling for the town. "It looks like county will be taking over the hauling for the town and it will be a significant savings for the town as opposed to what we're currently paying Waste Management," S3 said.
S3 said he will present the county's data at the next meeting for the board's review. Separately, Lawmaker (S4) and the solid-waste committee discussed a package of transfer-station improvements planned to start in January and a goal of December decisions so the town can educate residents on upcoming changes.
