Supervisor Jim Jones read the terms aloud, saying the refund would be “interest free and paid within 60 days of the service of filed court order approving the settlement together with notice of entry and demand for payment in applicable taxing jurisdictions.” The resolution also states the assessed value will be reduced to $900,000 for the 2024 assessment roll; the text as read references fair market valuation and includes a 2025 figure in the record.
Board members discussed independent assessments, noting the town and petitioner had hired separate appraisals that differed significantly. A board member pointed to the interest-free nature of the settlement, saying it avoids the additional expense the town could have faced had the case gone to trial. The board moved and approved the resolution by voice vote.
