The Town of Keene Board announced that it has been awarded $1,000,000 from the Northern Border Regional Commission to support the Water District #2 project. Supervisor Joe‑Pete Wilson said the award came after three application cycles and thanked those who worked on the submission.
"we were awarded $1,000,000.00 for our Water District #2 project," Wilson said during the meeting. The board noted the award will help fund capital improvements outlined in a recently delivered asset‑management plan prepared for the town.
Wright‑Pierce consultant Dylan Thisse presented the Asset Management Plan that accompanies the grant work, describing an inventory of assets, estimated replacement years and planning‑level cost projections for the town's two water districts. The board did not vote on specific capital contracts at the Jan. 28 meeting; project design and budgeting were presented as next steps.
The board record shows routine approvals and related business in the same session, including an emergency water pump purchase and approval of vouchers. The town will likely use the Wright‑Pierce outputs to prioritize renewals and to inform future budget and grant phases.
