Board recognizes California Science & Engineering Fair winners from county schools

At the May 19 meeting, Events & Community Engagement Specialist Stacie Arancibia recognized the top six winners from the California Science & Engineering Fair. Winners and projects included "Fire Fighter Robot" (Samuel Reyes, Joshua Ochoa, Damian Birrueta) from Bellevue Elementary; "Carb Controversy" (Elle Potter) from Peterson Elementary School; "Truss VS Arch" (Alexis Silvar, Ariana Valdez, Dulce Mora) from Gracey Elementary; "Cleanarrator 5200" (Julius Jean, Tyran Jean) from Tenaya Middle School; "Break It Down" (Trent Scheurich) from Our Lady of Mercy; and "Micro Plastic" (Michael Hicks) from Our Lady of Mercy.
Arancibia presented the recognitions during the meeting’s presentation portion; the board acknowledged the students and families in attendance. The recognition underscores the Board’s ongoing outreach to student STEM achievements in Merced County.
