The Jewett Town Board unanimously authorized a resolution on June 10 directing town officials to commence proceedings and solicit submissions toward forming an ambulance district.
S3 said the town began looking at an ambulance district about two years ago and described a process that would keep each town with its own district board representation while enabling a larger regional contract and governance structure. After S3 presented the resolution, the board moved, seconded and voted to authorize S3 to begin the district-formation work.
S1 told the board the step is needed to position Jewett for an eventual merger with Wyndham and Ashland ambulance services and said the town is already functionally aligned with Wyndham. The authorization allows the town to solicit required materials and to take legal and administrative steps to form the district; no final merger was decided at the meeting.
What’s next: S3 will commence solicitation and procedural steps needed to form the ambulance district and will report back to the board as milestones are reached.
