The Jewett Town Board examined a paving proposal and discussed seeking reimbursement through the CHIPS program for general repairs and full reconstruction of three roads.
S1 said the superintendent submitted an amended request and that the proposed work would not exceed $189,008.64, covering Silver Spring Road, Coral Road and Crossroad in their entirety. S1 told board members the superintendent will file with the CHIPS program for reimbursement and that, based on prior experience, the town has typically recovered the majority of such costs.
S1 characterized the submission as “general repairs” and reviewed the proposed allocation of nearly $60,000 for primary work and the larger $189,008.64 cap on the full projects. Board members did not take a formal vote on this item during the transcripted exchange; S1 said that if a majority signs it he will forward it to the highway superintendent for filing with CHIPS.
What’s next: the highway superintendent will amend and resubmit the CHIPS application and the board may be asked to sign the submission for forwarding.
