Board presents employee awards, retirement resolutions and approves 180-day exemption appointment; superintendent compensation approved

The meeting opened with presentation of Outstanding Employee Awards for the quarter ending June 2025. Superintendent Steve M. Tietjen presented plaques to Jesus Cisneros (Educational Services), Jaquilyn Lourence (Special Education), and Sherre Vernon (Educational Services); Lena Lee was listed as an honoree but was not present. Superintendent Tietjen also read four of eight retirement resolutions honoring Marcela V. Garcia, Karen Martin, Amanda Press, Linda Zamora, and Lynn Larrew.
Under personnel business, Deputy Superintendent Janet Riley presented Resolution No. 2025-16, declaring an exception to the 180-day wait period and appointing Katherine Weimer as an extra-help retired annuitant to train Business Services staff and support establishment of CYBHI accounting effective July 1, 2025; the board approved the resolution 4-0. The board also discussed and approved the County Superintendent's salary schedule and benefits in accordance with Education Code Section 1209; that motion passed unanimously. These personnel and recognition items were recorded on the consent agenda or as separate motions with votes of 4-0.
