Parent urges board to address theft, fighting and vaping at middle school

Megan Hall told the Milton-Freewater Unified SD 7 board she is a concerned parent and member of the school community and described what she said are troubling trends at the middle school: increased theft, fighting and vaping. "Recently, there has been a noticeable increase in theft, fighting, and vaping on campus," Hall said during citizens comment, and she urged the board and administration to evaluate supervision levels and consistent enforcement of disciplinary consequences.

Hall asked the board to consider whether supervision throughout the school day is adequate and whether disciplinary policies in the student agenda are being applied fairly and consistently. "When students don't see clear boundaries or consistent disciplinary follow-through, it creates an environment where misbehavior goes unchecked," she said. The chair asked Superintendent Duff to continue investigating the concerns and to follow up with the commenter as needed; the board said it would expect a report back when more detailed information is available.
