Residents tell Keene board leash rule could have prevented dog attacks

Jeanie Cross told the Town Board she had experienced two attacks by local, unleashed dogs and urged support for the proposed leash requirements. "Neither of these things would have happened if the dogs were leashed," she said, describing an encounter while walking on Lacey and a separate incident near her driveway.
Stephen Hall, whose wife was attacked in 2021 while the attacking dog was on a leash, nevertheless said he supported the leash law as part of stronger rules to protect residents and pets. The comments were offered during the public comment portion of the Jan. 14 hearing and were among several accounts the board heard about safety concerns on town roads and trails.
