Keene approves consent-agenda organizational business and routine policies

The Keene Town Board adopted two consent agendas at its Jan. 2 organizational meeting, approving Resolutions 02–21 and 26–46 covering official newspaper designation, bank depositories, mileage rates, investment authority, town policies, committee appointments and routine program authorizations.
The Keene Town Board used a consent agenda to approve a suite of routine organizational items for 2025. In the first consent vote the board designated The Sun Community News (Valley News) as the official newspaper, set private automobile mileage reimbursement at $0.70 per mile, and named Champlain National Bank and Municipal Investors Service Corporation (CLASS) as depositories (Res. 02–05). In a later consent vote the board adopted additional administrative measures including Records Access Officer designations, a fixed-asset minimum valuation ($500), and authorization for select advance payments prior to audit (Res. 26–36).
The consent agendas also included a series of appointments—Deputy Supervisor Teresa Cheetham-Palen, Deputy Superintendent of Highways Dean Smith, Clerk to the Supervisor Cindy Caner, Sole Assessor Timothy Gay Jr., Town Attorney Bryan Liam Kennelly, trustees for the Keene Public Library, and other operational roles. Most consent resolutions passed unanimously; the board recorded ayes and nays in the minutes as required by the adopted Rules of Order.
