Keene Town Board adopts Rules of Order, sets regular meeting schedule

The Keene Town Board opened its Jan. 2, 2025 organizational meeting at 5:31 P.M.; Supervisor Joseph P. Wilson, Jr. presided and the board adopted Resolution No. 01 to formally adopt Rules of Order under Section 63 of New York Town Law. The rules set the board's regular meetings for the second and last Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m., require ayes and nays be recorded in the minutes, and permit the Supervisor to preside and recognize speakers.
The adopted rules also specify procedures for public hearings (requiring speakers to state names and addresses and allotting time allowances), the process for motions and seconds, limits on speaking turns for board members, and the conditions under which the board may enter executive session pursuant to Public Officers Law §105. Ann Hough introduced the resolution, which Teresa Cheetham-Palen seconded; the board adopted it unanimously.
