The Town of Johnsburg board set a public hearing for the preliminary 2025 budget for Nov. 7 at 6:30 p.m., and approved a resolution for budget line transfers after little discussion. The supervisor told members the preliminary budget had been provided to each board member prior to the meeting.
During discussion of preliminary-to-tentative changes, several board members raised concerns about proposed adjustments to fire and EMS funding levels. One board member said they opposed reducing a fire fund allocation and would like to see it reinstated to 2 percent; others asked for time to present justification documents for proposed increases to EMS and fire contracts. The supervisor said a final budget workshop/meeting would be held prior to adoption (the supervisor mentioned Nov. 13 as a possible workshop date), and the board agreed to revisit disputed fund allocations before the adopted budget.
