Village awaits decision on $240,000 firehouse grant as department reports increased call volume

The board heard from Fire Department representative Larry Eisen on recent department activity and a pending grant application. Eisen reported 11 recent calls, two drills and year-to-date call volume of 87 (compared with 94 calls last year), and said the new fire truck is in service with a new intake valve and deck. OSHA inspection activity was scheduled for October and LOSAP checks were distributed to volunteers.
Mayor Dorene Weir told the board, reporting on a fire-department grant item, that "We should hear back from NYS by the end of this month regarding the $240,000 grant application to renovate and extend the firehouse." The board will monitor the grant decision and proceed with any required local match or follow-up if the award is made.
