Kinderhook advances Albany Avenue pedestrian project and watermain upgrades, aims for July construction

Trustee James Mark Browne updated the Village Board on two infrastructure efforts: the Albany Avenue Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvement Project and an Albany Avenue watermain upgrade. Browne said preliminary design for the pedestrian project was approved in November and that the team has developed sidewalk and ADA ramp concepts for the business district; meetings with local business owners are underway and the goal is to complete a bid-ready package by April to begin construction in July 2025.
On the water side, Browne reported the Albany Avenue watermain upgrade design is complete with work to begin on William Street design. He said the plan includes removing older water mains from Route 9 to Maiden Lane and replacing about 31 meters on Kinderknoll, Maiden Lane and an extension to the Hudson. He also reported coordination with HVEA and consultant Tighe & Bond for final design, procurement and construction oversight.
