Pendleton SD 16R approves fiscal-year-end financial report; grants to wrestling and SMS scholarships accepted

Michelle Jones, Director of Business Services, presented the district's fiscal year-end financial report as of June 30, 2025 and described expenditures and revenue trends. She said that expenditures reflected final compensation for staff who retired or resigned and that contract education costs associated with Pendleton Virtual Learning Academy are offset by State School Fund revenue. "Property tax collections for 2024/25 were approximately 96%," Jones stated. Director Mason Murphy moved to approve the June 30 financial reports; Director Jill Pace seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
Mrs. Jones also presented two donor-funded grants for board approval: a $2,000 Rollin Schimmel Memorial Wrestling scholarship for Pendleton High School's wrestling program to attend an OSU camp, and a $1,000 anonymous donor scholarship for SMS. Director Murphy moved to approve the grants and directed a letter of appreciation be sent to each donor; Director Anne Keeler seconded and the board approved both grants unanimously.
The Board approved other business-service motions later in the meeting, including a continuing resolution, declaration of surplus music equipment and an insurance broker agreement (see related items).
