Kinderhook board approves amendments and abstract; discusses insurance and bond carryover

At its Nov. 13 meeting, the Kinderhook Village Board approved three budget amendments aimed at covering existing bills and reassigning funds for fire-equipment purchases. Clerk/Treasurer Nicole Heeder read amendments moving $2,639.92 for workers' compensation, $7,236.86 within water-fund line items for transmission and distribution contractual costs, and a $6,000 transfer from a fire-buildings project line to equipment for new fire-truck hose. Trustee James Mark Browne moved to approve the three amendments; Trustee T. Kevin Monahan seconded and the board voted unanimously.

The board also approved the abstract totaling $180,045.91, which included General Fund disbursements of $105,655.05, a Water Fund total of $13,577, Albany Avenue water work of $7,521.36, a $50,000 construction draw reducing the bond balance, and sewer disbursements of $3,292.50. Browne later briefed the board on bond accounting related to the Albany Avenue project and said the village carries $351,000 remaining on that bond after prior reimbursements. Trustees discussed rising insurance premiums—the village projects 2024–25 premiums of $58,989 (about a 10% increase from 2023–24) and plans to raise deductibles and set aside budget funds for them.
