S1 told the board that the New York State Department of Labor sent a notice listing violations at the highway garage (inspection occurred in August; board received the notice in late October). S1 said the town had not been notified earlier and urged the highway superintendent to remedy the violations before fines are imposed.
"Looks to me like the fines are $200 a day," S1 said during the discussion. The board voted to officially request the highway superintendent address and remedy the violations and to communicate corrective measures to the supervisor; members emphasized the need to act before deadlines to avoid fines.
