District HR staff told the committee they will sharpen hiring quality by refining interviews and reference checks, expand recruiting through targeted events and social media, and create a formal 30/60/90-day onboarding plan to support new hires in year one.
"For the 4th thing, so formalizing a, 30, 60, 90 day onboarding plan," a presenter said, describing structured check-ins and supports aimed at helping first-year staff succeed. HR staff also noted recent recruitment incentives, including hybrid work schedules offered to school psychologists and speech-language pathologists (an 80/20 or 60/40 option) to improve competitiveness.
Staff said they will track yields from recruitment events to focus resources where they get the most applicants, and use stay interviews to identify why employees stay and what might be improved. The plan is intended to reduce early-career exits and improve retention in the first one to two years on the job.
