Board hears update on Integrated Math rollout and family concerns

Senior Executive Director Todd Bloomquist and Curriculum Director Megan Young said the K–12 Math Curriculum Design Team aligned written units, piloted revisions and provided professional learning to support teachers. Young described three focus areas including the May 2025 launch and common family questions. Board members asked about pacing, equity of access, how unfinished learning and acceleration are being handled, and the empirical basis for national recommendations; staff said they are monitoring alignment with college readiness and data used for acceleration decisions.
A parent during public comment, Maggie Williams, criticized the removal of the middle-school advanced math track, saying it could reduce access to calculus and harm the district's competitiveness; board members noted the concern and asked staff to clarify pathways and communication to families.
