Medford SD 549C reports steady enrollment and watches class-size thresholds

At a Oct. 2 work session, Assistant Superintendent of Operations Brad Earl told the Medford School District 549C Board of Education that enrollment held steady after the district had anticipated losing about 100 students, and that the district's extended average daily membership helped maintain funding consistent with the adopted budget.
Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Jennie Snow and Executive Director Kirk Kolb reviewed K–5 and secondary class-size charts, saying staff continue to monitor classrooms approaching established thresholds and to avoid blended classrooms when possible. Board members sought clarification about the “Ruch & Site-Based” column and class-size minimums; staff provided explanations and said they will continue tracking enrollment and schedule adjustments.
