Dan Posey was elected president of the Temple Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 12, 2025, in a vote that carried unanimously, 7–0. Shannon Myers moved the nomination for Posey; Ronnie Gaines seconded the motion.
Trustees also elected Ronnie Gaines as vice president (motion by Dawn Cook) and Virginia Suarez as secretary (motion by Dawn Cook); both motions passed 7–0. During the same portion of the meeting the board appointed Bre'Layshia Alexander as the public officer for District 2 (motion by Virginia Suarez, seconded by Ronnie Gaines), also approved 7–0.
The administration of the Statement of Officer and the Oath of Office was given to Virginia Suarez, Bre'Layshia (the minutes show an inconsistent surname in one place), and Shannon Gowan. Board members announced committee assignments for 2025–2026 and designated Shannon Gowan as the TASB Delegate with Virginia Suarez as alternate for the September 13, 2025 assembly in Houston.
The board's unanimous votes and the oath administration followed routine governance procedures; no public comments were made on these items during the meeting.
