Educational assistants urge board to "do better" on classified pay

Meghan McKeown, an educational assistant, told the board the district reduced her hours and annual pay after she was removed from a Health Assistant role last year and urged trustees to consider wage and retention needs for classified staff. Mike Gwaltney, also an educational assistant at Pacific Ridge, told trustees this was his first board meeting and said he is grateful to work for the district; he said retention is about wages but also about staff feeling appreciated. The board listened during the public comment period and reserved follow-up to the superintendent if additional action is needed.
