After staff narrowed multiple scenarios and gathered teacher, parent and student feedback, the recommended model would unify schedules across middle schools and move core class lengths to 60 minutes beginning in 2027–28. "By going from 40 ... our middle school core classes range between 42 and 48 minutes. In '27, they're gonna be 60 minutes," she said, and staff estimated this change would yield roughly 45 additional instructional hours per core class each year.
The plan includes required health and physical education for grades 6–8, an AB elective schedule for 7th and 8th grades, and a sixth‑grade wheel to let younger students explore several short‑term electives. Staff emphasized professional learning and curriculum alignment as next steps and said roll‑out will include training and a year of incorporation prior to full implementation.
