Health committee approves measles advisory after state outbreak spikes

McGuire cited Department of Health data in the packet: "Pennsylvania's outbreak has grown substantially... the Commonwealth had 142 cases with 31 new cases of measles reported over the last week. This is as of July 27. 26 of these patients were hospitalized and none had been vaccinated," he said. Committee members asked about county and state messaging and whether the township's advisory duplicated county efforts; staff said the county and state recommend vaccination and that the township advisory is intended to supplement their materials.
Commissioners agreed the advisory should be distributed promptly; the committee voted unanimously to authorize posting of the notice on township channels.
