The Kinderhook Village Board adopted Local Law No. 1 of 2025 on Jan. 8, creating a Chapter 98 Vacant Property Registration Law for the village. Mayor Dorene Weir opened a public hearing at the start of the meeting, Clerk/Treasurer Nicole Heeder read the proposed local law aloud, and the board voted to adopt the law following a negative SEQR declaration read by Trustee James Mark Browne.
During the public hearing Anne Birkmayer asked where residents would find information about the new registration on the village's redesigned website. Clerk Heeder and Economic Development Director Renee Shur discussed ongoing website work — including a business directory and archival of minutes and agendas — and Heeder said she would forward a punch list to the mayor and board. Trustee Browne moved to approve the SEQR negative declaration and Mayor Weir moved to adopt the local law; Trustees voted unanimously "Aye."
