Superintendent Doctor Meyer told the board and the public that the state budget had not been finalized and that the district had budgeted conservatively, including anticipated heating-cost increases. "This year, we we did, budget some of that towards, anticipated, increased heating costs," he said.
Meyer walked through local tax-impact examples: on a $100,000 home most district towns would see an estimated $1,122 tax bill under the proposed plan, while Elizabethtown's estimate was just over $1,400 because of equalization differences. He also estimated STAR exemptions between $323 and $367. Staff said they plan to remain within the tax cap, use no fund balance for the budget, and monitor state aid; further details, including local-share calculations for any capital project, are expected as building aid units (BAUs) are finalized by State Education.
