Tarkington ISD highlights enrollment trends and student achievements

Dr. Elna Davis, Superintendent, provided trustees with an update on student enrollment, upcoming district dates and events, and highlights of academic, fine arts, athletic and extracurricular achievements at the Jan. 20 meeting. She summarized district and campus accomplishments and community involvement as part of the superintendent's report.
Mrs. Jackie Owens recognized eight Students of Character from grades Pre-K through 11, praising traits of leadership, responsibility and citizenship. "Character is such an integral part of what we strive to teach and model alongside parents," the presentation said, and the meeting materials note that out of more than 1,900 students in TISD, eight students were recognized at this session and roughly 40 will be recognized over the school year.
