Zillah names July Parks & Recreation Appreciation Month, highlights new courts and dog park

Mayor Scott Carmack read a proclamation declaring July as Parks and Recreation Appreciation Month in the City of Zillah and the council approved it unanimously. The proclamation emphasized parks' role in community quality of life, local business support and volunteer contributions and recognized individuals and organizations that supported recreation programming.
The minutes note recent accomplishments cited in the proclamation, including the opening of new pickleball courts and a dog park at Loges Park, and a splash park and new playground equipment scheduled for installation in August. The proclamation also thanked volunteers and groups including Zillah's Associated Clubs, the Lions Club and American Legion Post 130 for their contributions.
Councilmember Brian Williams added the proclamation to the agenda in the study session and the council formally approved it in the business meeting. Staff indicated continued programming and facility work will proceed with volunteer partners and city operations supporting upcoming events such as National Night Out on Aug. 8.
