Superintendent reports improved AP results and delays to an FKH playground

Superintendent Dr. Ed Grande updated the Clark Township Board of Education on assessment results, staffing and progress on referendum projects.
Dr. Grande said "Approximately 75% of our students scored at a level 3" on spring ACCESS testing for English language learners and reported that 135 ALJ students took 281 AP exams, with 77 scores of 3 or higher — a 13% increase in passing scores from the prior year. He said passing scores have increased more than 30% over five years and highlighted several AP scholars and areas with 100% pass rates.
On facilities, Grande said referendum projects are progressing but noted the new FKH playground "will not be in place for the start of school" because it must be connected to other site work, including a parking addition and storm-drain tie-ins. He said the district would make parts of the existing playground safe and usable in the interim.
The superintendent also announced hires, retirements and a promotion/extension within the district's administrative ranks. Board members and community commenters praised several new hires and retirees during public comment.
