At the Jan. 21 meeting Mayor Rodney Buckley reviewed the village's proposed 2025 projects and recommended cutting gutter replacement, sprinklers and radar signs from this year's list so they can be done next year. Mayor Buckley said, "the Village portion of the electrical upgrade project is budgeted at $160,000," describing work to bury wires from the street to homes on the north side of N Lake Ave and to upgrade small (60‑amp) panels where needed. He told trustees he contacted ComEd and that the utility "said they won't cover the cost," raising trustee concern that other residents may later request similar upgrades.
Buckley also outlined a Mariner's Cove resurfacing proposal budgeted at $500,000: "$300,000 will come from MFT funding and $200,000 will be general fund," and said budgeting is based on a five‑year road maintenance plan for Mariner's Cove. Trustees discussed funding and equity implications of paying private property upgrade costs where work addresses safety or reliability; no formal vote on these capital priorities was recorded at the meeting.
