The Board of Fire & Police Commissioners voted 3–1 on June 8 to disallow waiver requests for the National Testing Network eligibility test during the current police hiring cycle.
Commissioner Dave Walter moved that waivers not be permitted for this cycle and urged the board to "get through one process to get a handle on everything" before changing practice; Commissioner John Loesch seconded. The roll-call vote recorded AYES from Loesch, Sheahen and Walter and a NAY from Chairman Tom Callard, so the motion carried. The board agreed to revisit waiver policy in a future testing cycle if needed.
